During their latest Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo announced a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for the Nintendo Switch.
The much-adored original was released for the Nintendo Game Boy back in 1993, and then re-released for the Game Boy Colour in 1998 under the new title The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX. Both versions of the game together have sold over six million units worldwide, and both received critical acclaim in Japan and the West.
The story of Link’s Awakening takes place after the events of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and sees our hero shipwrecked on the mysterious Koholint Island. A trailer was released alongside the announcement, giving us a taste of what to expect from this “modern re-imagining” of a beloved classic.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch later this year.
