Konami recently revealed the full line-up of games for their upcoming Castlevania Anniversary Collection, the second of multiple video game anthologies being released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company.
The Castlevania Collection will consist of eight games from the influential franchise’s NES, SNES, and Game Boy titles. Amongst them is a rare treat in the form of Kid Dracula (Akumajō Special: Boku Dracula-kun), which was previously a Japan-only exclusive released for the Famicom back in 1990. It will also ship with a bonus eBook that includes notes from the developers and an interview with Adi Shankar, the producer of Netflix’s Castlevania animated series.
The full list of games in the collection is as follows:
- Castlevania (NES)
- Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest (Game Boy)
- Castlevania: The Adventure (Game Boy)
- Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse (NES)
- Kid Dracula (Famicom)
- Castlevania 2: Belmont’s Revenge (NES)
- Super Castlevania 4 (SNES)
- Castlevania Bloodlines (Sega Mega Drive)
The other two planned anthologies to celebrate Konami’s 50th birthday are the Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection and the Contra Anniversary Collection. The Arcade Classics Collection is already out, and contains such old-school gems as Haunted Castle, TwinBee, Gradius, and Salamander. In contrast the Contra Collection does not currently have a release date or confirmed line-up. However we know that it will be of similar size and scope to the Castlevania Collection, and that like its Castlevania counterpart, it will also include an exclusive eBook showcasing the development process and the history of the series.
The Castlevania Anniversary Collection will launch on May 16th and will cost $19.99. There is no word on UK pricing as yet but we anticipate an RRP of £15.99 based on current exchange rates. It will be available for purchase digitally on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
