The HD remaster of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles now has a release date. After much speculation and rumour, the game will release for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices on January 23rd 2020. The news was announced by the official Final Fantasy Twitter account.
The original Crystal Chronicles launched exclusively on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2003 and quickly became something of a cult-classic. It was a departure from most entries in the Final Fantasy series in that it was a co-op focused mission-based game as opposed to a traditional JRPG. It also did away with traditional turn-based battle mechanics in favour of a real-time hack n’ slash combat system.
The GameCube version of the game encouraged players to link their GameBoy Advance up to the console for 4-player couch co-op. Whilst we are under no illusion that the HD remaster of Crystal Chronicles will support the GBA to any degree, we can happily announce that it will feature online multiplayer and cross-play functions, so it’ll now be that much easier to get the old gang back together.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition launches January 23rd 2020 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
